I’ve been earning a living writing since I was eighteen—when I got my first TV copywriting job. I had an early career acting in TV commercials. The time came to decide whether I was an actress or a writer. To put this to the test, I wrote a novel. That clinched it. My first novel, The Seeds of Time, was published by Bantam in 1997. It’s still in print. The book is science fiction as are the next five novels. My current series is SF with a fantasy feel.

My husband, Tom Overcast, and I have three grown sons and a large orange cat. After living in Seattle for quite awhile, we moved to the eastern side of Washington state to Wenatchee, for the smaller community and the great weather. We also spend time in Southern California—another desert community. Rainy weather is not for me, I guess.

I’m glad I chose writing. It’s a good path. I like to encourage those of a like mind to try it and keep going. Thus, my “Still Writing” e-newsletter, and my blog, often writing-centered. I also head up a literary conference: Write on the River.
